Within the complete orchestral structure and the various chamber ensembles in which the OCS presents itself, two new formations were introduced: the “Além Tejo” (“Beyond the Tagus”) and the “Algarve” ensembles.
The Ensemble “Algarve” is composed of all the strings of the orchestra and proposes an “English Music for Strings” program with works by Holst, Elgar and Britten, and a second program with “Serenades for Strings” by Mozart and Tchaikovsky. The Ensemble “Além Tejo” is comprised of all the woodwind and percussion instruments. It proposes a wind transcript program for works by Mendelssohn, Debussy and Beethoven. A conductor will direct both of these ensembles.
