#OAorquestra
This programme combines two works by 19th and 20th century masters, both rarely listened to and which share, in their genesis, the principle of method behind the compositional process.
Penderecki, a devout Catholic, wrote a "chacona" in memory of Pope John Paul II. This musical form is characterised by the repetition of the same harmonic patterns, unfolding as an exercise in method and mastery in conducting music.
The Rimsky-Korsakov sextet, the only work that the Russian composer wrote for this formation, is a rare exercise by this composer, who here dedicates himself to the most classical forms in the history of music, even submitting the composition to a competition where he only won second prize. Despite exploring the mastery of musical techniques and architectures such as the sonata form or a fugue, this sextet will undoubtedly attract listeners by the variety of atmospheres and delicacy of its melodies.
