Born in Boston in 1974, he took up the horn at the age eight, taking inspiration from the brass section of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Continuing his education in Boston for the next ten years, Todd performed with numerous orchestras as well as opera and theater companies, including tours to Berlin, Prague, Salzburg, Chicago and Montreal. Higher education brought Todd to the Oberlin College Conservatory where he studied with Richard King and Jamie Sommerville, earning his bachelor’s degree in music. Upon graduating from Oberlin, he attended Arizona State University’s School of Music where he received his master’s degree in horn performance after studying with Thomas Bacon. After that he moved to New York joining the Manhattan New Music Project and freelancing in opera symphonic orchestras.
In Portugal since 2001, he has worked with the Remix Ensemble and the Orquestra do Norte, and is currently principal horn of the Orquestra do Algarve since 2003, now named Orquestra Clássica do Sul.
