FROM SHADOW INTO LIGHT | S. Brás de Alportel

#OAorquestra

A concert programme that continues the focus on discovery and rediscovery, this time giving way to the contemporary Augusta Reed Thomas, one of the most striking voices on the contemporary North American scene. It will also be the occasion for the modern Portuguese premiere of the dramatic and intense second symphony by Ludwig Spohr, an author whose fame has been unfairly eclipsed over the last century and a half.

There will also be the opportunity to revisit the intense fifth concerto for violin and orchestra by the virtuoso Henri Vieuxtemps, played by João Castro, who leaves the ranks of the first violins in our orchestra to take on the role of soloist.
