FROM LYRICAL TO SYMPHONIC | Faro

#OAOrquestra

The four composers presented in this programme are, together, the authors of almost sixty operas. Although opera is not Fauré's best-known genre, the composer is the author of two operatic titles.

This programme will allow us to discover the lyrical side of this quartet of geniuses, but in a symphonic context, with a curious overture for puppet theatre by Smetana, followed by two brilliant symphonies by authors who have engraved their names in the opera pantheon. The highlight, of course, will be Fauré's immortal Pavane, with the collaboration of our Community Choir.

COMMUNITY CHOIR OF ORQUESTRA DO ALGARVE

Rui Baeta, Coordinator and vocal coach

The OA Community Choir, currently with about 60 elements, all of them lovers of choral singing, volunteers, with the most diverse occupations, residing in the Algarve region and of multiple nationalities, has as its main mission and vocation to interpret the choral and symphonic repertoire, thus giving the Orquestra do Algarve the possibility to programme in its regular season the great works for choir and orchestra.

The Choir held its first rehearsal in February 2019 and since then more and more voices have wanted to join this exciting project. Coordinated and rehearsed by baritone Rui Baeta, the choir carries out its regular weekly vocal practice in order to perform works that will be part of their musical repertoire, such as Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Fauré's Requiem, Brahms' A German Requiem, Rossini's Stabat Mater, Haydn's Nelson Mass, Mozart's Requiem and Bach's Mass in B Minor.
